Ralph Irene

While teaching in the Rochester, New York area, Ralph Irene began his radio career in Newark, New York in 1958. In 1961, Ralph went to WROC AM FM TV, Rochester, New York where he worked as a disc jockey, hosted a children's television show on Sunday mornings, and filled in on radio and television when needed. Following nine years at WROC, he moved to Ann Arbor, Michigan and went to school to earn a doctorate in education. Upon completion, Ralph and his family moved to Buffalo in 1974 where he became an assistant professor at Buffalo State while also working part-time at WADV. When WADV changed its format and became WYRK, he developed his program called Sinatra and Friends which aired on WKBW on Sunday mornings. Several years ago, Ralph brought the program to WECK in a Sunday night time slot. Now, he is the host of WECK's Great American Songbook, airing on Saturday nights from 6-9 PM
